Close to its head office in Burgau, the Bavarian-Swabian roller shutter, external venetian blind and textile screen system manufacturer is building a new logistics centre in the nearby Scheppach industrial park. To get the emerging own-account transport operations off to an environmentally-friendly start, ROMA has invested in the first Mercedes-Benz natural-gas-powered articulated truck. The vehicle from the Econic series was officialy delivered last week.
"Environmental concerns played a very important role in its acquisition", said Werner Riedmann, head of ROMA Logistics, when the vehicle was delivered. "The fact it is powered by natural gas will enable us to conduct our transport operations between Burgau and the new logistics centre in Scheppach with the lowest possible emission levels."
The Mercedes-Benz Econic truck has other advantages to offer on top of the active contribution to environmental protection: the low-entry concept makes getting in and ouf of the cab more ergonomic and safe, and the panoramic windscreen provides excellent visiblity. Furthermore, the Econic is ideal when you need to change trailers frequently and thus perfectly equipped for distribution transport.
The Econic also offers an ideal advertising space for the new ROMA TV campaign as seen from September on the German ARD and ZDF channels as well as Sky. The new ROMA CDL Comfort & Design Lamella, whick takes centre stage in the TV ad as well as in the realm of sun and privacy protection, make the special-purpose truck a real eye-catcher.
